How long is the video?
Every DearTales story video is approximately 3 to 5 minutes long. Birthday videos include an additional celebration ending and birthday song so run slightly longer.
What age is DearTales for?
DearTales stories are designed for children aged 2 to 10. If you are unsure whether your child falls within the right age range, feel free to get in touch at [email protected] and we will be happy to advise.
How long does it take to receive my video?
Every DearTales video is individually crafted, so please allow 5 to 7 days from the point we receive your order and photos. We will confirm your order within 24 hours of receiving your form.
What photos do I need to send?
One clear, well-lit photo of your child's face is all we need. Front-facing, neutral expression, no sunglasses, hats or heavy shadows. If you'd like, you can send a couple of extra angles too, the clearer the photos, the better your child's character will look in their story.
Can I include my child's pet or favourite toy?
Yes, this is one of the things that makes DearTales special. Tell us about your child's favourite pet, toy or character, and we'll design an original companion inspired by it, brought to life uniquely for their story. If your child loves a well-known character, we create a brand-new companion all their own, so no two DearTales stories are ever the same.
Can I choose what lesson my child learns?
Absolutely. When you fill in the order form you choose the lesson you would like woven into the story, from kindness and bravery to teamwork, sharing, and believing in yourself. The lesson is built naturally into the plot so your child absorbs it through the story rather than being told directly.
How is DearTales different from other personalised video services?
Most personalised video services use automated templates where your child's name or face is dropped into a ready-made video. Every DearTales story is individually designed and produced from scratch. Your child's character is built around their appearance, their companion is included, and their story is written uniquely for them. No two DearTales videos are ever the same.
How will I receive my video?
Your finished video will be delivered to your email address as a downloadable file. You can watch it on any device, cast it to your TV, download it, and keep it forever.
What if I am not completely happy with my video?
We will remake your video until you love it. No questions asked. Your satisfaction is guaranteed.
Is my child's photo safe?
Yes, and we treat it carefully. We use your child's photo for one purpose only: to design their character and create their story. We never publish it, never sell it, and never use it for marketing without your permission. Once your video is delivered we delete your child's photo and details from our own files. The specialist AI tools we use to build the animation keep data under their own terms, including some based outside the UK, and we set these out in full in our Privacy Policy, which we'd encourage you to read before ordering.
Can I order a video for more than one child?
Yes, simply fill in a separate order form for each child. If you are ordering for multiple children at the same time, get in touch at [email protected] and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Can I order for a special occasion other than a birthday?
Yes. DearTales videos make wonderful gifts for birthdays, Christmas, starting school, well done moments, new baby siblings, and simply because your child deserves something special. Select your occasion on the order form.

1. DearTales DearTales is a personalised animated story video service operated by Erum Khan, trading as DearTales, Suite RA01, 195-197 Wood Street, London E17 3NU. Contact: [email protected]
2. Our service DearTales creates personalised animated story videos for children using artificial intelligence tools directed, curated and quality checked by our founder. Every story is individually designed and personally overseen by a real person.
3. Placing an order Orders are placed by completing our online order form at deartales.co.uk. Submission of the form does not constitute a confirmed order. We will contact you within 24 hours to confirm your order details and payment.
4. Payment Payment is required in full before production begins. We accept payment via PayPal. Prices are as stated on our website at the time of ordering.
5. Delivery Completed videos are delivered to your email address within 5 to 7 working days of confirmed payment and receipt of all required photos and information. Delivery times may vary during busy periods.
6. Our satisfaction guarantee If you are not completely happy with your video we will remake it until you love it. No questions asked. This guarantee covers the story content, character design and overall quality of the video.
7. Refunds Due to the personalised nature of our service refunds are not available once production has begun. If you have concerns about your video please contact us at [email protected] and we will work with you to resolve them under our satisfaction guarantee.
8. Your photos and personal data By submitting photos and personal information you confirm you have the right to share them and consent to them being used to create your child's personalised video. All photos and personal data are deleted upon delivery of your completed video.
9. AI tools and third party processors DearTales uses third party AI tools to produce your video including Higgsfield AI, Kling AI, ElevenLabs and Suno. By placing an order you consent to your data being processed by these tools solely for the purpose of creating your video.
10. Intellectual property The completed video is created for your personal use. You may download, share and keep your video forever. You may not resell or commercially exploit the video without our written permission. DearTales retains the right to use anonymised production techniques and story concepts for portfolio and marketing purposes, subject to your privacy preferences stated at point of order.
11. Limitation of liability DearTales liability is limited to the value of your order. We are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from use of our service.
12. Governing law These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

What data we collect When you place an order we collect your name and email address, your child's name, age and physical appearance details, photographs of your child, details of your child's companion, and your chosen story theme and lesson.
How we use your data We use your data only to create your child's personalised animated story video. We do not use it for any other purpose. Please note that to make the video we rely on third party AI tools, and those providers may use uploaded content under their own terms, as set out below.
Third party AI processors To create your child's video we use the following third party AI tools, which process the data you provide:
Higgsfield AI, image generation, higgsfield.ai, United States
Kling AI, video animation, accessed via Higgsfield, klingai.com, China
ElevenLabs, voiceover generation, elevenlabs.io, United States
Suno, music generation, suno.com, United States
Your child's photographs are sent to Higgsfield and Kling, which use them to generate the character and animation. ElevenLabs and Suno receive only text and audio briefs, not your child's photographs. Under their own terms, these providers may use content uploaded to their platforms to operate and improve their services, including training their AI models. We do not control how these providers use data once it reaches their systems. By placing an order you consent to your data being processed by these tools for the purpose of creating your child's video.
AI generated content disclosure DearTales videos are created using artificial intelligence tools directed, curated and quality checked by our founder Erum Khan. Every story is individually designed, written and personally overseen by a real person. We use AI tools as part of our production process.
Data retention We delete the photographs and personal details you submit from our own files once your completed video has been delivered. We cannot delete data held by the third party AI processors listed above, which retain and process data under their own privacy policies and retention terms. We recommend you read this section before ordering.
Lawful basis We process your data on the basis of explicit consent given at the point of order submission, and to perform our contract with you.
Data transfers Some of our AI processors are based outside the UK and European Economic Area, including the United States and China. By placing an order you consent to these international data transfers for the purpose of creating your video.
Children's data We take the privacy and safety of children seriously. Photographs of children are used only to create their personalised video and are never published by us, sold, or used by us for marketing. Because the images are processed by the third party AI tools described above, we cannot guarantee how those providers handle data on their own systems, which is why we ask you to read this policy in full before ordering. You confirm at the point of order that you are the child's parent or legal guardian, or otherwise have authority to provide their photographs and consent to this processing. We delete children's data from our own files once the video has been delivered.
Your rights Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct or delete the personal data we hold, and to withdraw your consent. Contact [email protected] to exercise these rights. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
